Aston Villa stay in the relegation zone

Three points in today’s fixture would have taken Villa into 16th, instead, the side would have to spend another matchday in the relegation zone.

They may feel fortunate to have gotten the draw after Sheffield’s ghost goal. Nonetheless, the result leaves Villa in an unwanted position.

Villa did have chances throughout the game, but the chances just did not fall their way. A collection of headers on set pieces were won but not converted in the first half.

In the second, a great Dean Henderson save denied Keinan Davies the opener, and Anwar El Ghazi had a chance to set Davies up with an open goal but overhit his cross-goal pass after a great through ball from Jack Grealish.

Sheffield is far from an easy game, but the schedule does not get any easier for Villa. In their next five games, they have to play Chelsea, Wolves, Liverpool, and Manchester United.

The bottom of the table is very tight, but a poor run through this tough stretch could see Villa fall deeper into the relegation zone.
