With the return of the Premier League around the corner, and the title all but decided, the fans’ focus will shift towards the other end of the table.

The race to avoid the drop has every chance of coming down to the wire, with six teams realistically facing a relegation scrap once the season resumes. With the form book thrown out of the window due to the COVID-19 stoppage, predicting who will suffer the ignominy of demotion from the Premier League is harder than ever.

As the clubs prepare to take the field in an effort to complete the 2019-20 season we will attempt to predict the fates of all six teams involved in the fight to remain in the Premier League for next season.

20th-placed Norwich (21 pts, -27 GD)

Fixtures: SOU (H), EVE (H), ARS (A), BHA (H), WAT (A), WHU (H), CHE (A), BUR (H), MNC (A)

Rooted to the bottom of the table, six points away from safety, and the worst goal difference in the league; things are looking grim for Norwich. A tough return does not help their case, with consecutive fixtures against Everton and Arsenal to endure before three straight games against other sides in the bottom six.

Daniel Farke’s side are not afraid to take on any side, but the defensive issues, combined with the six-point disadvantage they face, might be too much for Norwich to overcome in their bid to remain in the Premier League.

Predictions: D – L – L – D – L – W – L – D – L, 27 pts
