Mason Mount

Mason Mount has been with Lampard for the last two seasons. The two were together for Derby County’s run to the play-off promotion final last season, and now with Chelsea this season.

Mount has played in every Premier League game this season, starting in 25 of the 29 and usually playing attacking mid. He has six goals and has five assists so far. This is where Ziyech comes into the picture, as he could prove to be competition for Mount in the midfield.

Mount’s recent history with Lampard and the fact that he’s appeared in every game, make him feel the least in jeopardy of losing his spot in the coming season. He’s stayed healthy and his production and form have been nice for a midfielder in his first season.

He will of course have to keep it up to end the season. Chelsea is set to have a lot of front line talent, and Ziyech could have to play in the midfield to make it all fit. Still, Mount’s exclusion from the side seems unlikely at the moment.
