Grealish is – Added Talent and Depth

As for United, they would be adding a very talented player to a team that’s trying to build towards competing for the title in the coming seasons. While Grealish occupies the same position as some of the current stars of the club, the teams they are chasing, as well as their own history shows that a wealth of options may be needed to truly compete.

Liverpool won the Champions League last year, and are running away with the Premier League this season. Despite that, they are preparing to add Timo Werner to an already stellar front three. They also have a deep assortment of midfielders to prepare for any absentees. Manchester City’s depth speaks for itself, as the squad lost Leroy Sane to a torn ACL in the summer and have still had selection issues through the season.

United needs squad depth

United need the squad depth to match. Adding Grealish to a team that already has Bruno Fernandes, Paul Pogba, Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford would be a big step to joining the teams above. The side has shown great promise at times this season, but still only sits in fifth in the table, showing the room for growth they still have.

An unfortunate thing to add is United’s problem with injuries. Martial has missed five Premier League games through injury this season, Rashford missed seven and Pogba has missed 22.

United won one of the five games Martial was out for, three of the seven without Rashford and just 10 of the 22 without Pogba. The struggles are reflected in their league standing, and while you would hope the injuries are not a worry in the coming seasons, it’s not a risk you can afford to take.

Grealish could fill in wherever the injuries may occur. He started the season playing as a center mid and played left wing for a majority of the season after. If Pogba, Rashford, or Fernandes are to go out it’s a straight swap. If Martial is to get injured he can play on the wing and Rashford can play as the striker.
