Is Adrien Rabiot a midfielder United needs or wants – Where would he fit
Scott McTominay and Nemanja Matić
The only possible position for Rabiot would be in a deeper-lying midfield role or just to the left of a midfield 3. This is where Scott McTominay and Nemanja Matić might share the rotation and relieve some of the pressure off of Fernandes, Pogba and Fred.
Matic will be 32-years-old in August and can provide the experience needed when called upon. While Scott McTominay can be a beast of a player on the day, but he still seems to lack that finesse that is needed in a midfielder.
So is Adrien Rabiot actually needed at Old Trafford?
The answer would be yes and no. Yes, because according to reports Juventus may be willing to release the player for a fee of £27m and he would provide depth in a much needed Manchester side.
The only reason Rabiot may not be a fit would more than likely be a lack of game time if he can’t get the ball rolling in the English Premier League which leaves him back at square one.
The demand for players to hit the ground running is always high in the EPL, and given his slow start in Italy should be a cautionary indicator that Ole Gunnar Solskjær must consider before forking out £27m.
