Jordan Henderson: Liverpool skipper named BBC Sport’s PL Player of the “Season-so-far”
BBC Sport’s has announced their seasonal awards, this time giving it the title, the “Season-so-far” awards. They’ve named the Liverpool captain their Premier League Player of the “Season-so-far”.
A host of Reds make the cut for BBC Sport’s Team of the Season, with a trio of them topping the list in the individual awards section. Premier League Player of the Season, Manager of the Season, and Young Player of the season are all from Anfield.
The only other awards going to players not playing for the Anfield side are Signing of the Season and Surprise of the season. Dean Henderson from Sheffield United and Adama Traore from Wolves obtained these accolades, respectively.
Does it come as a surprise? No, there is almost no contesting it after their individual 2019-2020 seasons. Last season’s Champions League winners were on route to capping off the greatest Premier League run by a Liverpool side before the stresses of COVID-19 took over.

They were 25 points clear at the summit of the EPL standings and were two wins away from officially being named the champions of England. The wait for a restart continues but as things stand, it will return sooner or later.
No funny story but not even the Coronavirus can stop Klopp and his men from getting their hands on the EPL crown. The club would have to forfeit every game from here on out if/when the league resumes, in order for Man City to gain their third title.
Jordan Henderson led the way
During the brilliant run of Liverpool after their European triumph, Henderson marshalled Liverpool to two titles. He brought home the club’s fourth European Super Cup and the club’s first-ever Club World Cup.
Now he pushes his teammates on to bring the Premier League title to Merseyside after 30 years of absence. When missing you do notice the hole left by the Liverpool captain. He has helped orchestrate a single-loss season in their Premier League run.
He has assisted in maintaining the best defensive record for consecutive seasons after conceding the least goals and keeping the most number of clean sheets this term. This with aid of the world-class support he has at the back. Their consistency has been outstanding and key to all their success this season.
The Englishman has barely missed a beat. He has made 25 appearances of the 29 matches played. He has contributed to eight goals of Liverpool’s 66 scored. The only game lost was one he missed.
Klopp’s squad run with the best in the league in almost every position. It would be hard to not to consider some of the players from the squad for Premier League Player of the Season.
