Transfer news: Roy Hodgson ready to take on a youthful Crystal Palace
If you don’t have a good youth system, your club generally struggles on every front. Roy Hodgson wanting to go in for young athletes could see them open up many avenues.
Sky Sports report the Englishman, Roy Hodgson, wants their club to target a younger breed of footballers when busy in the transfer window. If the club hierarchy listens to the manager, they could open many new doors.
Investing in young players at the club
If the Eagles invested in many young players over the course of the next few years, their chances of producing the next top talent in England, Europe, and the world will increase exponentially. Instead of pumping all their money into one player, they could rather spread it over several different players with the potential of being world-class one day.
The problems they currently sit with is their best player (Wilfried Zaha) is underperforming while reiterating his desire to leave. This disrupts any camp. If they had more to work with, there’d be less reason to keep an unhappy player like him.
They would be able to sell players and keep the squad fresh, instead of having to scare possible suitors off with a ridiculous asking price cause they need their players to stay. Top talent will know Palace offers a platform for the bigger Premier League clubs to see them showcase their stuff so they will want to play for them.

"Roy Hodgson would like Crystal Palace to add some “new blood” to his squad in the next transfer window in order to keep the club moving forward. In order to keep on progressing, Hodgson thinks Palace need to add some younger, fresh blood to a squad that is statistically the oldest in the league with an average age of their starting eleven this season being 29 years and 277 days old. We’ve set a very good platform now,” he told The Football Show.We have a very strong base with lots of good players. But if we could find a way to add a few more younger ones to that squad, a few new faces, that would inject some new blood while keeping the nucleus of the squad then I’d be very confident next season of improving on the results of the last two and three seasons. Could change Wilfried Zaha’s mind
If Zaha is not convinced they can do well under Rodgers after this season, he needs to get his head checked. Hodgson and his Palace team have done well afore the COVID-19 suspension of football.
His London side sat in the top half of the table for a large part of the season. Just before the break, they sit outside the top half of the Premier League standings in 11th by two points off Burnley, who have been exceptional in the latter parts of the season.
Their highest placing this season was 4th but it was between 6th and 9th where they spent a good part of the season. That shows promise in what Roy is doing at Selhurst Park. If they invest right, it could convince the Ivorian something good can happen from him staying.
If it doesn’t work move them on
Get in young stock and fall in line with teams like Frank Lampard‘s Chelsea. Somewhere along the way success is bound to follow a youthful side. If there is no success in acquiring seasonal accolades, there will surely be money coming in at the end of it when selling players.
