Steve Bruce’s time at St. James’ Park is becoming limited with each tick and tock of the clock as Newcastle takeover resumes to be finalised before the new season kicks off.

As previously mentioned, it was only a matter of time before talks of brining in new management at the club begun. It’s also no longer, will Bruce be replaced but more when will he be replaced? Then the most important one of them all, who will replace him?

Well, it appears the who has been marked down and reports point in the direction of a rather predictable candidate of ex-Spurs boss, Mauricio Pochettino. The when has not so much been worked out, as we still wait for one important turn of events… The actual sale of the club by Mike Ashley to Amanda Staveley and her Saudi-backing partners.

While they continue to be scrutinized with a fine-toothed comb by the Premier League, Sky Sport reports the possible candidates of priority targets for the potential new owners.

"Mauricio Pochettino is Newcastle’s prospective new owners’ number one choice to be the next manager at St James’ Park and they are willing to pay him £19m a year to take charge of the club.Steve Bruce will remain as manager until the end of the current campaign, although it remains unclear as to when that will be. The likelihood is that the Argentine would take charge once the season has concluded.More from NewcastleBarcelona identify Newcastle star as Robert Lewandowski replacementNewcastle predicted lineup vs AC Milan: Tough decisions for Eddie HoweNewcastle United extend Callum Wilson’s contract for another yearNewcastle to make “imminent” decision with midfielder Bruno GuimaraesNewcastle captain wanted by Saudi Arabia – Eddie Howe may be tempted!"

Once the sale has been announced it will be even easier to predict what happens next and to see how swiftly every plan gets put into action. You actually don’t have to be a fortune-teller in order to write the narrative from the point of sale to the point of actual success.

The buzz of St. James

The buzz of St. James’ Park will be loud. It will be a proud buzz. It will be a long ride though. It won’t be a walk in the park but it will be a fun one to watch. The sad reality of Steve Bruce’s current situation is quite unfortunate, but not surprising.

No matter who comes back in and takes over, the excitement will not be contained, nor will they stress about their potential appointments. They will soon be living their best lives.

"No decision from Pochettino or the Saudi-backed consortium is expected before the Premier League determines whether to allow the £300m takeover of the club from Mike Ashley. If the Pochettino deal falls through, former Newcastle manager Rafael Benitez, now managing at Dalian Yifang in the Chinese Super League, is expected to return to St James’ Park. Love the idea of St. James’ Park favourite, Rafa Benitez, possibly returning from his post in China to come and take on the top dawgs in the Premier League. He has always been a thorn in the top teams’ sides.

He will be the perfect person to upset the league while bringing the Magpies back to the glory days. Same goes for Poch and his ability to make star players. The two are perfect for Newcastle and would be a step up from Bruce.

Next. Anfield Extension is on hold. dark

Although we must never undermine the Englishman and the fantastic job he has done in his short spell while working with his bare hands because of Mike Ashley. He’s done too much for Ashley with almost nothing placed in front of him.
