Moise Kean throws lockdown party as poor behaviour continues
Moise Kean has continued his poor run of behavioral issues, throwing a party during the lockdown which left Everton furious.
Nothing has gone right for Moise Kean since joining Everton from Italian giants Juventus last summer in a £24m deal. And by nothing, I seriously mean nothing. The 20-year-old has scored just 1 goal in 26 appearances for the Toffees this season, quite vividly displaying his inability to promptly adjust to Premier League football.
Of course, if he had his head down and was giving his all week-in, week-out, perhaps there wouldn’t be a problem, and fans would be happy to give him more time to adjust. Yet, Moise Kean is one of those players that can’t seem to keep his name out of the papers, even at his young age. Touted as a future world-class striker, Kean is now following a very similar path to fellow Italian striker Mario Balotelli, who had world-class talent but an attitude at the opposite end of the scale to drag him down.
Moise Kean has angered his club Everton this week by having a party at his flat, posting videos of the occasion on Snapchat. This blatant disregard for government recommendation and club procedure during the COVID-19 pandemic has left another red mark on the forward’s resume.
Everton even issued a statement regarding the matter, stating that “Everton are appalled to learn of an incident in which a first-team player ignored Government guidance and club policy in relation to the coronavirus crisis,”.
It is likely that Kean will face some sort of punishment, and it’s also entirely possible that he won’t play for the Toffees again, after a horrible debut year and interest coming in from Serie A clubs. It’s clear that this venture, while holding such promise at the start, is more than likely heading towards a dead-end.
Kean has been disciplined by Everton before for showing up late to training sessions. This also occurred when he was with the Italian team, from which he was dropped.
Graeme Souness raised an interesting point about Kean back in September, stating that there must be underlying issues with the player if a top club like Juventus with an aging frontline is selling him for so little in the current market.
We might now be seeing the sort of things that Juventus were aware of. Kean is subject to interest from many Italian clubs, including Inter Milan, but it remains to be seen whether Ancelotti will sanction the sale or not.
Moise Kean can be a great player in the future, no doubt about it, but there’s no room at the top for players with a poor attitude and skewed priorities. Just ask players like Hatem ben Arfa and Mario Balotelli, who had the world at their feet but squandered it. Kean has the tools needed to become a top forward, and at his young age, he has plenty of time to right the ship.
