This is probably where Chelsea really need work done before thinking about additional attacking options. The work is needed at the back and starting with a target like Nick Pope would represent good business.

The beginning of the Frank Lampard era comes with mixed reviews but mostly positives. We saw the birth of this new, young-looking Chelsea with arguably the most attacking flair ever attained. The approach of outscoring their opponents has been key to their success.

The holes at the back have prevented them from holding onto third place over Leicester and stealing second place from Man City. Many times they have shown superb quality in front of goal while showing terrible form when protecting their goal line.

The main factor contributing to them having trouble in the defensive block is Kepa Arrizabalaga, who has been notoriously known for making errors in between the sticks and possibly the biggest hype merchant in recent years.

Chelsea was the first of the top six to strike in the transfer market with the acquisition of Hakim Ziyech from Ajax. They now have been in round-the-clock links with playmaker Philippe Coutinho. If Lampard is smart and wants to swing with the big hitters, they need to get the defensive line and the core of the starting 11 sorted.
