It is said that we get the same lesson over and over again until we finally learn what we need to know to take the next step in life. It seems that the same applies to football teams.

There are millions of stories with teams or players that get confronted with the same situation repeatedly and are initially not able to find a way to win.

It has been said that Liverpool discovered in their Champions League run a winning mentality, a never say die mindset and complete integration of the notion that by remaining focused, anything was possible.

In other words, a championship mentality. Looking at how the Reds won the European championship, they learned the lessons they needed to learn to gain that mentality.

The best evidence of this was their epic comeback against Barcelona in the semi-finals. The Catalans were up by three goals going into the second leg at Anfield. The Reds won 4-0 to advance to the final.

Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool ripped apart the narrative by winning a decisive match to claim a major trophy when they won the Champions League final the previous spring, defeating Tottenham. Now, the Reds and their charismatic German manager were attempting to write a new script that would make history.

Could they now apply it to the Premier League?
