Harry Kane gave us a hint at his future on social media this week, claiming he would consider leaving Spurs if he feels they aren’t on an upward trajectory.

Although he was briefly a member of Arsenal’s academy during his childhood, Harry Kane is very much a Spurs man. When others doubted him, Spurs kept the faith in him and gave him every chance to succeed. Now, you can most certainly consider him one of the best players in their history, and arguably the best to ever come out of their academy.

Despite all of his success since breaking into the first-team 6 years ago, most notably on the scoresheet, there is still a worrying lack of silverware in Harry Kane’s cabinet. None, to be exact.

At the age of 26, and nearly 27, silverware is likely the biggest thing on Harry Kane’s mind. This is just common sense, but it seems as if Spurs fans and the media have been purposely stuffing this into the back of their minds, convincing themselves he will stick around.

This week, Harry Kane claimed on social media that he would consider leaving Spurs if he felt the club was not moving forward. He labelled himself an ‘ambitious’ footballer, who would not stay at Spurs ‘just for the sake of it’.

This comment would not have caused any sort of reaction 10 months ago when Spurs were playing in a brand new stadium and heading to a Champions League final. The ‘moving forward’ aspect was very much happening at that time, and to be fair, it has been throughout Kane’s time at Spurs.

Now, however, these comments are worrying, because that upward trajectory has halted in a big way. Mauricio Pochettino was (in my opinion, wrongfully) sacked, Jose Mourinho was hired, the team has been struggling, and they are about to go another year trophyless. For a player as good as Kane, who was playing a Champions League final less than a year ago, this won’t be enough. In fact, I’m sure he will be thinking deeply about his future these days, while cooped up at home.

Spurs aren’t moving forward in the way Kane wants, and unless they turn things around in a big way next season, then he could be on his way out. He deserves silverware, and it’s becoming obvious that he is desperate for it as well.
