The Coronavirus Crisis halt on Premier League Football
The current decision is to have the season resume from April 4 and must end by the end of June. A resolve after UEFA’s board met regarding the suspension of EURO 2020 to 2021.
Before the days of streaming and binge-watching one’s favorite TV shows, we were left with cliffhangers to end seasons all the time. These cliffhangers left us with so many unanswered questions that it left us with huge anticipation for the next season to start.
Football is the same as the above mentioned.
The Premier League must have a winner
The Premier League season is similar to watching our favorite show. At the end of the season, a champion is crowned, Champions League positions are given, and pink slips are given solemnly to clubs that are relegated.
That’s how all of this works. That’s how it has always worked.
Last weekend, the show that is the Premier League ended with a cliffhanger ending, three-quarters through the season. It was left with a dreaded cliffhanger that nobody expected and nobody wanted.
Fans of every club were left with so many questions about what will happen next.
Will the Premier League season be finished? Will Liverpool lift the trophy after all? Will Manchester City get banned after all from the Champions League? Will Manchester United finish their sprint to a Champions League spot? Will Jurgen Klopp ever shake the hand of a fan ever again?
The scariest question of all might be: Will the season be voided?
A voided season will mean the Premier League show that happened will have no ending and no closure. Every question that will be asked about the season for a millennium will start with: What if….?
The closure is important. The lack of closure to a sports season or in life brings anxiety and unanswered questions. I can’t imagine the fear of a life-long Liverpool fan, who has waited their whole life for them to lift that trophy and then it’s canceled like a show in mid-season.
