2. Josip Ilicic, Atalanta

My previous column placed the 32-year-old second striker as the eighth-best all-around attacking players in the Champions League. His best attribute is his goalscoring prowess. Ilicic has fifteen goals in Serie A for the highest-scoring club in the league.

His npxG is 9.94 in the league play with an open play goal conversion rate of -5.06, which is fourth-best in Serie A among individuals scoring more than five goals from open play.

Atalanta is very likely to advance into the quarter-final round of the Champions League as they hold a three-goal advantage over Valencia. Josip has only netted one goal in the UCL so far, but if he can show his precision in the next round Atalanta will continue to be a threat.
