5. Maxi Gomez, Valencia

Watchers of La Liga are familiar with the talent and productivity of this 22-year-old Uruguayan. He lit up the Primera Division in his homeland to start his career. This is his third full season in the Spanish top flight. In his first two seasons, he knocked in 30 goals for Celta Vigo.

Valencia picked up Gomez this past summer for a cheap $15.95 million. He has nine goals and three assists in all competitions with his new club. Unfortunately, in his last match on February 29th against Real Betis, he broke a bone in his left foot. His return date is likely several weeks out.

Prior to his injury, Gomez had been almost surgical in his clinical finishing with a conversion rate of -3.39.

His club is down three goals in the Champions League Round of 16 going into the second leg. Without Maxi, in the lineup, Los Ches’ chances of moving on are extremely dire.
