Leicester City lost at King Power Stadium to Manchester City on Saturday evening. This latest defeat confirms they are on a downward spiral that could endanger their European qualification hopes.

In the fourth minute of Leicester’s match against the defending champions, James Maddison made a pass into the box in anticipation of the darting Kelechi Iheanacho being able to chip it into the goal. The pass just missed.

In the seventh minute, Foxes talisman Jamie Vardy received a pass and broke past City’s Fernandinho for a break-away and was one-on-one with the keeper. City goalie Ederson made himself big coming out of the box. Vardy took his shot, The ball hit the post.

Seventy-three minutes later, a much-criticized Gabriel Jesus took advantage of a Leicester defensive error getting a pass from Riyad Mahrez and found himself one-on-one with the goalie. His shot made it to the back of the net.

At the end of the match, the defending champions walked off with the three points. The victory put Manchester City seven points clear of Brendan Rodger’s club in second place, while Chelsea gain on them and close the gap to five points.
