The breakout campaigns of 2 young Premier League forwards have caused waves of fans to compare the 2: Mason Greenwood and Gabriel Martinelli.

Over the course of the 2019-20 Premier League season, 2 young forwards have broken out of their shells in their first professional season in top-flight football – Manchester United’s Mason Greenwood and Arsenal’s Gabriel Martinelli.

Both players have been impressive and versatile for their clubs this season, competing for starting spots when many expected them to simply be fringe first-team players.

While Greenwood was somewhat known for his performances in the Manchester United academy and for the England youth teams, Gabriel Martinelli pretty much came out of nowhere, joining the Gunners from lower-tier Brazilian side Ituano.

Naturally, when 2 strikers in the same age group break out at the same time at rival clubs, comparisons between the players are inevitable, and this has been a running trend all season long, as Red Devils fans defend Mason Greenwood, and Gooners do the same with Martinelli.
