For the first time since August, Arsenal have won consecutive matches in the Premier League, as Arteta’s grip on the team becomes stronger by the week.

Exciting, end-to-end matches are what we’ve come to expect when Arsenal play at home in the Premier League, and their last 2 matches have followed a very similar narrative.

Against Newcastle last weekend, the Gunners turned on the jets for the first time in what feels like a year, putting 4 past the sorry Martin Dubravka. It was their first blow-out Emirates win in a long, long time – while it was a common occurrence in Arsene Wenger’s reign, even down to the very last few months under the legendary Frenchman.

Against Everton on Sunday, Arsenal played in yet another end-to-end match, but it was far more even and nerve-wracking for them than the one against Newcastle last weekend. Everton scored in the opening minute through Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who was dangerous throughout the match, before moments of quality from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Eddie Nketiah, via Bukayo Saka, gave the Gunners the lead. Everton managed to equalize on the stroke of half-time through Richarlison, who scored a scrappy set-piece goal.

The only truly world-class player on the pitch came through in the 2nd half, and luckily for Mikel Arteta and the millions of Arsenal fans around the world – he plays for their club. Aubameyang scored another header (he scored one against Newcastle as well) from another Nicolas Pepe assist to give Arsenal a 3-2 lead – a scoreline that would stay until the final whistle.

Everton did create some fantastic opportunities to level the match in the final 20 minutes or so, but Bernd Leno was up to the task, as he usually is.

Mikel Arteta has now guided the Gunners to 3 wins in a single week, with the 2 Premier League wins sandwiching a hardly-fought 1-0 away win over Olympiacos in the Europa League round of 32.

With previously-questionable individuals such as Granit Xhaka, Shkodran Mustafi and David Luiz now performing at a high level, alongside the likes of Nicolas Pepe and Bukayo Saka reaching their potential, Arteta’s long-term vision is seemingly coming to fruition, as the Gunners aim to shoot up the table and compete for a top 4 spot with 11 matches remaining.
