The Hammers finally decided to get some key business done which really should have been done in the summer window.

The signing of Czech maestro and Slavia captain Tomas Soućek looks to be an astute one. Bolstering the midfield and bringing an energy to the midfield which has been severely lacking for years in the East End.

Further, bringing back Darren Randolph is decent enough business, especially in January, however, questions remain over the Irishman’s age, fitness and price tag. Yet, an auspicious bit of business – or lack thereof – is the failure to bolster an awful defence, in dire need of a right back and a centre back. Time will tell if this is a costly mistake.

West Ham’s Big-Name Signings

The big-name signing and the one Hammers fans will hope can have the most impact, was, of course, that of Hull forward Jarrod Bowen.

The 23-year-old is a prodigious talent and was cumulatively the leading scorer in the Championship for the past 3 years, and that too primarily from the wing or attacking midfield.

As an in-form, homegrown forward, Bowen looks like quite a steal at 20+ million pounds, particularly if he can immediately inspire an unlikely push for safety.

Bowen can bring goals and, hopefully, unlock the best out of the misfiring Seb Haller. Though, should his efforts fail to keep the Hammers up, his relegation release clause could look enticing for other teams set at a mere 25 million pounds.
