Brentford’s Algerian winger Saïd Benrahma is attracting significant interest from Premier League clubs, including Arsenal and Leicester City.
James Maddison, Todd Cantwell, Jack Grealish, Tyrone Mings, Dean Henderson, Neal Maupay, John Fleck – the list of Championship players who have been able to translate their form to the Premier League is growing as each season passes. The English 2nd division has recently become a hotbed for budding talent, and while most of the players are English, there have been a few foreign players to make their mark as well.
One of the biggest foreign stars in the Championship over the last couple of years has been Algerian winger Saïd Benrahma, who has been a superb addition for Brentford on the wings.
Signed from Ligue 1 side OGC Nice for just £1.5 million in the summer of 2018, Benrahma’s value has skyrocketed, as he has become Brentford’s chief playmaker and star attacker with 19 goals and 23 assists across his 18 months or so with the club.
The Algerian played on the right-wing throughout his career but has transitioned to a left-wing role this season, which suits his creative abilities more, as he can come inside onto his stronger right foot and make the magic happen.

Benrahma is now attracting interest from some big Premier League clubs, according to the Sun, with Leicester, Newcastle, and Arsenal all prepared to convince the player to join the cause in the summer. At a rumoured price tag of just £15m, Benrahma could prove to be a low-risk, high-reward signing for any of these clubs.
In truth, Benrahma has everything needed to take his play to the next level in the Premier League. He might struggle with the physicality at first, but the Championship does an excellent job in preparing players for the intensity and speed of top-flight football – which is what makes it the highest-quality 2nd division in world football by a mile and a half.
Benrahma would be an excellent addition for any of these clubs. Arsenal are in desperate need of a left-winger in their team, and it seems that Mikel Arteta is looking at more creative, right-footed players for the role – something the Gunners haven’t had this season after selling Alex Iwobi.
