The debate is happening all over so why not join in on the fun. Liverpool’s Joe Gomez has quietly played himself to being named England’s best central defender by the public.

Liverpool accomplished their 24th game undefeated for the season after beating West Ham 2-0 at the London Stadium in their only game in hand.

It took the Reds 19 points clear at the top while collecting a total of 70 points from the 72 played for along the way. Since the start of January 2018, Klopp arranged his defence by adding new and world-class names to it.

First the inclusion of the commanding figure, Virgil van Dijk. Then two new names originating from the same corner of the globe the following summer. He added Brazilian internationals, Alisson Becker and Fabinho.

A world-class shot-stopper as the last line of defence and a world-class defensive midfielder to help protect the back four. The best way to explain what Klopp has done… Poetry in motion which is shaping up to be a masterpiece symphony.

One more change was made, but it wasn’t altered by a fresh face coming in. No. In actual fact, Klopp had an unpolished gem in his ranks already. That gem being Englishman Joe Gomez.

The German was always a favourite of Gomez, therefore using him often at right back in the early stages of his tenure at the club. Not many believed he would be used as a CB with the other options the manager had at his disposal.
