Fantasy Premier League GW25 – More Double Trouble Ahead
Defensive Picks
Liverpool
It doesn’t matter which of TAA, Robertson, Van Dijk, Gomez or even Allison you buy (Allison has more assists than Oxlade-Chamberlain and Wijnaldum!) You should have TAA and then if you buy another one of them that’s most of your defensive decisions covered for the rest of the season.
Sheffield United
Like Liverpool, there’s not a lot to choose between Wilder’s regular backline. My one piece of advice would be to ignore Henderson for now unless you can afford a playing back up goalkeeper (McCarthy or Krul are the cheapest options).
It’s easy to bench a defender in BGW28, but not a goalkeeper, and then you also have to contend with his ineligibility to play against parent club Man United in GW31, that’s 2 of the next 7 in which he’s not available. It’s not much but could make a huge difference!
As for viable options, it’s a case of you get what you pay for. Stevens and Baldock get forward more as wing-backs so get more points, but will cost an extra 0.5m. O’Connell, Egan and Basham don’t get as many attacking returns and as such are cheaper.
You will notice I’ve not mentioned Lundstram. After a string of poor performances he could be dropped for Besic, so now might be time to get rid of you have the spare transfer!
Steer Clear
Jack Grealish (MID, 6.7m, Bournemouth away)
This is more an issue of fixtures than anything else. Grealish is clearly very talented and will go a lot further than Villa (no offence Villa fans).
However, in the next 6 GWs, Villa have a blank and matches against Spurs, Leicester, and Chelsea! Even the two kinder fixtures are away from Villa Park. Time to look elsewhere.
