It was a long Fantasy Premier League DGW24, especially for those of us who were unfortunate enough to hand the Triple Captain chip to Sadio Mane.

Well done to those of you who picked Salah, TAA or even Firmino, but to those like me who have seen it disappear without any hint of reward remember this: it was the right choice at the time.

Hindsight is 20/20 but before last week nobody could know Mane would get injured and play a grand total of 32 minutes across 2 matches. The only thing to do is move onwards and upwards with a plan in place for what is to come because there are plenty more points up for grabs!

We have another BGW confirmed due to the League Cup final, and there will be a DGW to follow. In GW28 there will be no match for Man City, Arsenal, Aston Villa or Sheffield United. We are also close to confirming the nature of BGW31 (clashes with FA Cup QF) as it will depend on the FA Cup 5th round.

Currently, only 2 matches are confirmed to go ahead as scheduled, Wolves vs Bournemouth and Burnley vs Watford. Also in GW34, we will have another BGW due to the FA Cup SF, only one game is confirmed to go ahead, which is West Ham vs Burnley, but this will have fewer blanks as obviously fewer teams will be in the SF than the QF.

There’s a lot to get your head around and none of it is set in stone yet, that is why holding on to those precious chips is so important as we try to navigate the possible fixture movements. You should also be aware of the upcoming inaugural ‘Premier League winter break’ across GW26.

This won’t affect FPL too much as it simply spreads a single GW out across two weekends, with each team only playing once in that period. Although, there is a possibility of rescheduled matches being squeezed into this period, which would completely undermine the principle of the winter break but allow the Premier League to deal with mounting fixture issues!

Back to the matter at hand, and it’s a big week! Spurs face Man City, Man United host Wolves and Leicester and Chelsea battle for 3rd. There are no easy games to predict and no easy points to be had, even Liverpool will face Southampton who has been a tough proposition since their 9-0 thrashing at the hands of Leicester.
