Krzysztof Piatek a suitable signing for Spurs, Chelsea, or Manchester United
Krzystof Piatek is on the transfer list and would be a solid signing for Chelsea, Spurs, or Man United, who are all hungry for a goalscorer.
There was hardly a striker in the world last season who was as consistent, lethal, and terrifying as Krzystof Piatek. His ridiculous form with Genoa in the first half of 2018-19 (19 goals in 21 matches in all competitions) earned him a move to AC Milan just over a year ago, where he continued his rich vein of form, finding the back of the net a further 11 times.
While his 18-19 heroics earned him the label of one of the hottest strikers in Europe, the Polish international has come up far short of expectations this season, scoring just 1 goal from open play in Serie A this season, with 3 penalties added on to make a tally of 4. This awful form (which could partly be down to the circus tent that is the technical area at AC Milan this year) has led to the Rossoneri bringing in Zlatan Ibrahimovic on a free transfer and putting Piatek in the shopping window.
His form might be a turn-off, but there is recent evidence of a true goalscorer in there somewhere, and a stable club with proper management might just be the right place for Piatek to rediscover his form and get his career back on track.
After all, the goals he scored last season were no fluke. His finishing, particularly inside the box, was sensational, and he was able to pick out the bottom right corner from nearly every angle. He was also a threat in the air.
Looking to the Premier League, there are 2 big clubs looking desperately for a center-forward in the final few days of the transfer window – Spurs and Chelsea. Manchester United have also been linked with the player and could use another striker with Rashford out injured.
Chelsea have struggled to convert chances lately, while Spurs have a massive hole at the top end of their starting XI with Harry Kane out for what could be the entire season. All 3 of these teams could certainly use a true center-forward like Krzystof Piatek, especially if they believe they can get him back to his regular goalscoring ways again.
As of right now, Piatek is reportedly available for £30 million, according to The Telegraph’s Miguel Delaney. Spurs could reportedly offer up one of Erik Lamela, Juan Foyth, or Victor Wanyama as bait to reduce the price, as they find the asking price too steep.
At the end of the day, all 3 of Spurs, Chelsea, and Man United could use Piatek in their squad for pretty much the same reasons. For all 3 clubs, he offers a very strong rotation option for the future, but more importantly for Manchester United and Spurs, he could act as a temporary replacement for their injured star strikers. His form might not be the best, but Piatek proved last year that he can score goals – it just comes down to which club can get it out of him again.
