Hull City’s Jarrod Bowen has been tearing apart the Championship, and with the Tigers set to miss out on promotion, he should join a Premier League club.

If you follow the Skybet Championship, you will likely have heard of Hull City’s Jarrod Bowen. After all, the right-winger has scored a whopping 16 goals and pitched in with 5 assists in just 28 matches this season. While the Championship is indeed the 2nd division of English football, it is widely accepted as the best 2nd division on the planet and one of the best leagues in the world regardless.

Hardly any footballers manage to put up the numbers that Bowen has in the Championship, and for that alone, it’s become clear that he deserves to be playing higher-level football.

In the FA Cup 4th round on Saturday, Bowen had the chance to impress for Hull City against significantly larger opposition – Chelsea. The 23-year-old Englishman didn’t disappoint, giving all viewers an excellent display of his abilities, constantly causing issues down the right flank.

If it wasn’t clear that Bowen is ready for the Premier League before, it certainly is now, and with Hull City on course to fail in their bid for promotion, Bowen should be looking for a new club this summer – one in the Premier League.

A few teams have holes on their right-wings, including West Ham and even Crystal Palace, and since Bowen also has experience in a front 2, he could be a serious target for Southampton as well, as they look for someone to play alongside Danny Ings. Newcastle have been linked with the player the most.

Bowen’s contract with Hull City expires this summer, but if a team wants to sign him within this final week of the January window, it would reportedly cost them £20 million. It is likely that Hull will look to extend his contract, and there are also rumours that they have a 1-year extension trigger in the contract, but nothing is set in stone just yet.

Regardless of that, It’s more likely that Premier League clubs will wait until the summer, and then proceed with a bidding war for the player.

There is a strong recent history of top Championship attacking players being able to translate their form to the Premier League (Grealish, Maddison, Cantwell, etc). This alone makes Bowen a tasty option for Premier League clubs this summer, and football fans should familiarize themselves with Jarrod Bowen as much as possible before he becomes a common name in a few years time.
