The Hare and The Tortoise

It’s been a rocky Christmas for both teams. I sold off the Liverpool assets before the blank in anticipation of buying them back after the Leicester game (which was obviously going to be a tough test for them). Except I forgot that the Hare kept TAA on the bench and promptly lost out on the 24 point haul! I also forgot that the wildcard was expiring before GW20 so pulled a hasty one that Saturday morning… this is the issue with running multiple FPL teams!

Overall the Tortoise (OR 949k) is still well ahead of the Hare (OR 1.897m). I’ve changed the Hare’s rules slightly as well in an effort to claw back the position, I’m now not necessarily bringing in the highest scorer each week as that is not always the best bet for long term points (ie Mark Noble this week!) however I’m still taking as many hits as necessary to make the best changes I see possible for the team.

Top Picks

Marcus Rashford (FWD, 9.1m, Norwich at home)

Rashford scored one and assisted another in the reverse fixture, and Man United are not actually that bad at home! They should have enough to overcome Norwich who have the worst defence in the league!

Jamie Vardy (FWD, 10.0m, Southampton at home)

He has been sold en masse after 2 GWs out due to a minor injury, but he played in midweek and you can guarantee he will be ready and raring to go this weekend! Southampton may have tightened up the back but I think Bednarek and Stephens still have nightmares about that Leicester game, and Vardy will fancy another big haul!

Kevin De Bruyne (MID, 10.6m, Aston Villa away)

The magic man came off in midweek and prompted a flurry of concern on Twitter, but it was just to give him a rest before this weekend’s match against Villa. Poor Dean Smith has lost his main striker and his no. 1 keeper in the last week so they will surely struggle against the reigning Champions.
