We’re back with an FPL update! We’ve covered a lot of ground since the last article, with matches coming thick and fast over Christmas, followed by the FA Cup 3rd round.

There were no major shock exits for Premier League clubs, although some scares, unexpected replays and casualties of clubs who made a lot of changes to their normal line up. The FA Cup is crucial for FPL managers as it is the cause of a lot of the Blank Gameweeks and Double Gameweeks (BGW/DGW) that come up later in the season, so keep an eye on which teams are progressing and which are knocked out.

Other interesting things to note over the Christmas period are the Spurs downfall, with just 4 points from the last 5 games, and the Danny Ings’ excellent goalscoring form! I was taken in by the Mourinho revolution and still have Dele Alli in my team, although I’m unsure for how long he will stay there.

Meanwhile, Ings has proven me and all the doubters wrong to the extent that I’ll almost certainly buy him on FPL next week after the tough trip to Leicester (where he will inevitably score his last goal of the season because I’m buying him).

Most importantly though, we have our first FPL DGW of the season announced! Liverpool’s fixture against West Ham was rearranged due to the Club World Cup and will now take place in DGW24, meaning Liverpool play away at Wolves and West Ham, while West Ham have a tough double against Leicester and Liverpool! You need to triple up on Liverpool now and most likely for the rest of the season (at least until the title is sewn up), and this is the ideal time to play your Triple Captain chip on Mane/Salah!

This week should offer a lot of opportunities to FPL managers with City at Villa, Man United hosting Norwich and Vardy returning to action against Southampton, although the Saints are now a very different prospect to the team that conceded 9 in the reverse fixture!
