As it was previously written, the transfer of RB Salzburg’s striker Håland will be one to watch closely. A few days on and Manchester move in pole position for the 19-year-old.

Sky Sports and other outlets are reporting Man United are now the frontrunners for the possible signing of wonderkid, Håland. Early reports suggested there were many top clubs monitoring the situation of the Norwegian.

The clubs mentioned more often than the rest were, German outfit Borussia Dortmund and the sleeping giants, Manchester United. What followed with the paper talks is that the forward from Salzburg is more than willing to move camps but for the right cash flow.

A sum of £150-per-week was thrown around during the time period. Move on a few more days, a week, and the amount for his expected wages will be in the range of £200k-per-week. This is what United are willing to offer the striker according to the talks.

There is a need for firepower

The team from Old Trafford are in need of some more help at the front and the backend of the pitch after their most recent Premier League outing. Man United is the first team of the EPL top six to drop points against Watford, who are the worst team of the current campaign.

On Sunday past, United took a trip to a Watford side under the guidance of new manager Nigel Pearson in his second game in charge of the club. A draw was hard on the cards but a Man United loss was only a whispered prediction.

United were unable to score a goal against the joint, third-worst defensive team in the Premier League. All four of these games where they were unable to score and collect points were on the road.

They have already spent largely on their defensive line during the summer window before the season kicked off. The likes of Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Harry Maguire were added to the backline. Whether the signings have worked or not is still to be decided come to the end of the season, and what position the Manchester club is in.
