Napoli’s Carlo Ancelotti shoots to the top of the target list for Arsenal
The search for a new Arsenal manager will not be abandoned. However, the hunt could come to an abrupt end soon, as news of Carlo Ancelotti leaving Napoli evolves.
Win or lose tonight when Napoli meets Genk. No matter what the result is after the two play out the 90 minutes, Carlo Ancelotti will be out of a job. This is according to widespread reports across Europe.
Due to these rapid movements and ever-changing reports, Arsenal are now said to hold strong interest and will keep a close eye on the matter. This will definitely catch the interest of all the Gooners longing for a proper Wenger replacement.
A manager with better prestige associated with a possible move to Arsenal is just what the North London club needs. The best news after the hardship they’ve endured under the misguidance of Unai Emery. Monday Night’s comeback victory of 3-1 against West Ham on the road was the first win in their last eight Premier League outings.
Goals are at a low (24 goals scored) and clean sheets are a scarcity with them only having two for the season while letting in the same number goals as they’ve scored. To wait until the season end will be a long shot in the dark and a move with massive relegation risk involved.
They go up against Man City, Everton, Chelsea and Man United in the next month or so. If they are able to recoup a top-class manager anytime before or during that time, they will inevitably save their campaign from near death.
Carlo Ancelotti’s experience
The former Chelsea man likes to bring home gold. He was considered a master of his time and it will remain that way for a long time. The Italian also has great experience in the Champions League. If this is a serious feat the Gunners want to shoot for, they must get this man at the helm.
During his time at Stamford Bridge, he masterminded the Blues to a Premier League title, followed by FA Cup gold medal, as well as the FA Community Shield. Other than his EPL pedigree, he’s managed some of the most formidable teams across Europe.
He will certainly add more quality in the manager’s seat compared to Unai and should be a top priority to Arsenal’s hierarchy.
Other news about the Arsenal job
It was first said before last night’s victory that interim manager Freddie Ljungberg will stand in till the season ends. After that, the club will be more likely and able to make moves for more desired targets such as Massimiliano Allegri and Mikel Arteta.
Both men are more than suitable for the job, however, as stated earlier, there is a need to rush in for world-class quality in management. Waiting around, and you could see a manager with Premier League experience and titles march in another direction… Again!
You cannot make the same mistake twice, as done previously with Jose Mourinho. They need to learn from it and try to take on the Ancelotti bait.
