Premier League legend Jose Mourinho would be interested in managing Arsenal should they sack Unai Emery, according to reports.

Is it true that Jose Mourinho has had a sour relationship with Arsenal and their fans over the years? Yes, most notable due to his lengthy rift with Arsene Wenger. Is it true that he is still a reputable manager capable of managing at the top level? Absolutely.

Now, it seems like the infamous Portuguese manager is actually interested in managing the Gunners, should they choose to part ways with Unai Emery, something that seems more and more likely as the weeks go by, according to reports.

While this topic has split opinion between Arsenal fans, Mourinho still brings quality to the table. His tenure at Manchester United didn’t go as planned, but his history in the upper echelons of the game has made him one of the most successful managers of this era, and maybe even of all-time.

Mourinho has been out of work for nearly a year now, ever since Manchester United parted ways with him toward the end of 2018.

While Mourinho is still capable of doing a job for a big club, it can most certainly be argued that he isn’t the type of manager that Arsenal needs at the moment.

Mourinho is noted for being a manager that can achieve big things with big teams, but is he someone that can build a team over time? Not quite. He can make a significantly successful impact within his first 2 years at a club, but not really beyond that.

At the moment, the Gunners are in need of a manager in the mold of Jurgen Klopp or Mauricio Pochettino – a younger, vibrant manager with a positive style of football, that is also capable of developing a young team over the span of 3 or 4 years.

While it’s unlikely that Unai Emery will be sacked anytime soon, since the Arsenal hierarchy put a lot of faith in him, if his team keeps heading in the same direction, it will truly only be a matter of time. While Jose Mourinho might not be the best option for the club, don’t be surprised to see him on the shortlist once the time to hire a new manager comes around.
