Liverpool can brag a new era on the horizon. This after news of New Balance losing their court case with the mighty Reds. A seven-year deal ends in the wake of a new life with Nike.

Do you just do it? Or you never walk alone? The split is no longer an issue for those preferring one of the world’s largest sports brand in Nike, and those pledging allegiance to one of Europe’s biggest names in the game of football, Liverpool.

It was a long standoff between the club and their now-old kit sponsors, New Balance, who felt they were within in their rights to keep up a fight. Sadly for the Boston company, they stood no chance in their debate and were always going to be unable to match the power of Nike.

"New Balance, rather than walk away when the existing deal ends in May, had filed a claim in the High Court claiming it had activated a matching clause in the contract meaning Liverpool had to renew their partnership.Liverpool, however, successfully convinced judge Mr Justice Nigel Teare that New Balance could not “match” the terms on offer from Nike.More from Liverpool FC“Dreadful” Liverpool defender was shunned for being “miles off” vs WolvesLiverpool: Jurgen Klopp’s agent FINALLY addresses rumours he’ll leaveLiverpool will rival Manchester City for colossal Premier League defenderLiverpool are advancing in talks to extend the contract of “top professional”Liverpool lose captain for a further game after ban extended for “abusive” language"

It was said the deal between FSG and Nike was in place some time back, however, due to some problems with the NB people a court case took place and an inside war begun. Thankfully for all on the receiving end of the matter, they can move forward and start planning for a global Red takeover.

"Liverpool are now set to press ahead with the five-year deal already agreed in principle with Nike – who have already spent close to £6million on kit design. (via: Liverpool Echo)"

The case and hold up for Nike and Liverpool

The swoosh of America came to court with a lot of firepower and pull. Their pull was big names across the biggest industries in the world, top sportspeople and top celebs.

"LeBron factor made the difference. It seems that citing the use of big name athletes like LeBron James and Serena Williams made the difference when it came to Liverpool’s case to switch to Nike. Full story [Liverpool Echo]"

Hoping for uniqueness

Being as big as Nike are, they’ve always been closely watched, and have been sent to the cleaners when they don’t deliver. A couple of seasons running, Nike have been accused of replicating designs from Italy to England.

This deal will certainly give them their credit where due. If they don’t deliver they must then be prepared for what follows from the Anfield Public. For the seven years that New Balance has been in charge of the Reds, they’ve actually produced some dazzling football kits.

Nike has a tough act to follow. This is where they must show they really, really wanted this deal.
