Fixtures

  • Watford are still sitting at the top of the attacking rankings. They haven’t won a game yet and have only managed more than 1 goal in a game once (2-2 draw with Arsenal), so invest only if you’re desperate or don’t care
  • Man United also look strong both upfront and at the back, perhaps the draw with Liverpool was the start of an upturn in performances?
  • In the longer term, Sheffield United look very strong and I would recommend getting in one of their defenders
  • Aston Villa and Brighton have the worst fixtures so sell, sell, sell!

Stats

GW9

  • City was all over Crystal Palace and Sterling and Jesus sit subsequently 1st and 3rd for touches in the opposition box, with Jesus also taking the most shots
  • 2nd most touches and 2nd most shots was Theo Walcott(!), who was made to look like Ronaldo by West Ham’s terrible defending
  • Jesus was also joint top for big chances with Wood (3)
  • Ricardo Pereira is making a case for himself as a top option with Leicester’s good fixtures as he topped the touches in the box for defenders
  • He also created joint 2nd most chances with 5 (along with Gross and Hudson-Odoi), after Jack Grealish who created 6

GW4-9

  • No changes at the top of touches in the box, with Sterling and Salah still 1 and 2 respectively, interestingly Pukki is top for strikers, despite the general consensus that the Pukki party is over!
  • Abraham is top for goal attempts (23), big chances (11) and, most importantly, goals (6)
  • There is a new player top for shots in midfield though, with John McGinn top on 22
  • We have a surprise new contender at the top of chances created, with Pascal Gross overtaking KDB (and drawing level with TAA)
  • KDB is also not top for big chances created, that honour goes to Firmino (6) and even Sterling beats KDB with 5, although in fairness KDB did only play the equivalent of 4 games in those 6 weeks
