The Ballon d’Or’s 30-man shortlist has been released and surprisingly, it is flourishing with Premier League players.

Liverpool fills the list with the most names, while Man City follow close by. No awards listings are complete without the inclusion of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi’s names on it.

No surprise of their names mentioned even though both were unable to win the Champions League. However, in saying this, they both managed to still break records or top the charts in other areas, respectively.

The question that follows the two, will one of the five-time winners take football’s most significant accolade? Or have we already begun the new era in football where fresh blood have started coming in, as we watch Christie and Messi age out of the game?

No debating how dominant the duo of Liverpool and Man City have become after the Klopp and Guardiola take over. Both clubs boast a handful of players on the world’s most prestigious list.

As Barcelona and Real Madrid struggle to find form, Man City and Liverpool establish themselves as two of the most dangerous teams in world football and this list of names justifies their current brilliance.
