I say it every time, but international breaks really are the worst thing about FPL. Thankfully, the Premier League is back and we have a big-match weekend.

If you go into the interval with a green arrow then you’re keen to keep going and if you have a red arrow (like I managed) then all you want is the next GW to turn your fortunes around.

Last week was pretty terrible for all involved. Man City, who I backed heavily both in my last preview and in my team, simply didn’t turn up and were beaten by Wolves, while Liverpool managed a tight 2-1 win.

Early season favourites like Pukki, Callum Wilson and Aubameyang all failed to return (remember how we all expected a goal fest in Arsenal vs Bournemouth!), while the big scorers were Traore and teenagers Aaron Connolly and Matty Longstaff, who were all playing teams from the top 6!

This weekend will surely bring plenty of opportunities for FPL points with the reliable Chelsea attack up against a questionable Newcastle defence. Spurs playing winless Watford and Bournemouth’s free-flowing attack taking on Norwich’s absentee defence.

Finally, and most intriguingly, there is Man United vs Liverpool meeting on Sunday evening. With Klopp’s team riding high while Solskjaer is without a win in 3 league matches! It will be a brave manager who captains Salah/Mane against Man United, but it could be a move with great potential.
