Despite being the longest-serving player at Arsenal, and the most talented too, Mesut Ozil continues to be dropped by Unai Emery, and fans aren’t happy.

When you think of modern day Arsenal, the first player, or at least one of the first players, to pop into your head, would be the German Mesut Ozil, who has been very much the face of the club since he joined from Real Madrid in 2013 – a highly-publicized transfer. Ozil dragged Arsenal through some poor years, single-handedly leading them to some of their most famous modern results, while also bringing out the best in players like Alexis and Giroud with his creativity.

Now, Ozil is past his best, but that’s still no excuse for the way he’s being treated by Unai Emery at the moment, assuming that there isn’t anything serious going on behind the scenes.

For the 2nd consecutive match, Mesut Ozil has been completely dropped out of the Arsenal 18-man squad despite being fit to play. This comes as somewhat of a surprise, seeing as he started in Arsenal’s 5-0 drubbing of Nottingham Forest in late September, and was named the 5th captain of the club last week.

Many fans have taken to social media to voice their displeasure over the treatment of Ozil by the clubs management.

In Arsenal’s last 8 matches, Ozil has started 2, been an unused sub in another 2, and not made the squad in 4. That shows exactly how in and out he has been from this Arsenal team, which is rather baffling seeing as he is the most proven international footballer in their squad, and by far the most talented as well.

He might not have the intensity to play in some Premier League clashes, but he is more than capable of playing in home fixtures against lesser sides.

We most definitely have not seen the end of this saga at Arsenal. Whether some issue is going on behind the scenes remains to be seen, but as of right now, Mesut Ozil is not being treated with the respect that he deserves, and many aren’t pleased by it.
