Champions League: Chelsea and Frank Lampard’s next test is Lille
Take two for Chelsea and Frank Lampard in the group stages of the Champions League. How will they do in their second attempt when they face Lille on the road?
The Blues of London take a trip to France and take on Ligue 1 side, Lille. The two have been showing similar form in their domestic campaigns. Chelsea sits just outside of the top six with three wins, two draws, and two losses.
Their hosts see themselves in fourth place in their standings, but on a run, that’s been a lot more downhill compared to their visitors from London. They have only won two of their last five fixtures, losing once and drawing two in the process.
This proves this result is wide open and the winnings are there for the taking for both sides. The re-introduction is finished and the niceties are over, Frank Lampard has tasted all the affairs coming his way as a manager and now must act accordingly.

Recap of Matchday 1
The duo both lost their opening fixtures, with Lampard’s men just about losing 1-0 at Stamford Bridge. Lille, on the other hand, had little to no joy in their travels to the Netherlands, where they challenged semifinalists, Ajax.
A 3-0 defeat was the worst in the group and placed the French side at the very bottom of Group H standings. Therefore, this has added all the edge we need to have a banging display from the worst team and second-worst team in the group to play for their first three points of the tournament.
Judging Lille and Chelsea
Chelsea travels to Hauts-de-France (northernmost region of France) with little bravery. They’ve come short in most of their endeavours when in France. They’ve so far won one game, drew two, and lost five in their last six trips.
Only one thing stands in favour of the Blues, the home side has not won a game in their last nine Champions League fixtures. Another reunion going on later this evening will be Loric Remy welcoming the side he played for, for almost three seasons.
What must not happen on the pitch for Chelsea, is there must be no repeat of Ross Barkley’s overconfidence. No dispute amongst players will be seeing as a win on its own. Know the job and player who must perform the duty before kickoff, and all this will be an easy issue to overcome.
Lampard must go with his more experienced side
The Englishman needs to stop leaving his top players on the bench and opt to start them in this one rather. We’ve seen him go with the youngsters a number of times, but now points need to be secured.
Thankfully for Frank, he could have Blues’ blue-eyed-boy back, Hudson-Odoi. Christian Pulisic is a player that must not be overlooked and must be included in the starting eleven. Bottom line! He is another threat going forward and a massive asset in front of goal.
