North London Derby: What would an Arsenal-Spurs combined XI look like?

Right Wing: Heung-Min Son – Spurs

One of the toughest decisions in this combined XI was whether to go with Heung-Min Son or Nicolas Pepe on the right-wing. While Pepe kick-started his Arsenal career in pretty impressive fashion last weekend at Anfield, causing all sorts of problems for Andy Robertson, we really aren’t sure of what his full impact will be in the Premier League. Therefore, Heung-Min Son is the safer and more sensical option. The South Korean has had an exceptional rise to stardom in the last few seasons under Mauricio Pochettino, and has very much become a fan favorite.

While he struggled with his form at the back end of last season, Son is still very much one of the most dangerous players in Pochettino’s arsenal (please excuse me), and he will be looking to get back to top speed this Sunday.

Left Wing: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang – Arsenal

While he is normally a center-forward, I’m shifting Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang out wide for this combined XI, which ironically could be the position in which we see him play on Sunday, if Alexandre Lacazette is to re-enter the starting XI. Aubameyang has started the season in good from, scoring the winning goal in each of Arsenal’s opening 2 matches, before blanking against the Champions League winners Liverpool last weekend.

Despite being the golden boot winner last season, there are still question marks over Aubameyang’s ability to produce in big games, and this fixture will be a great opportunity for him to silence those critics once and for all.

After all, he did score a brace in this fixture last season!

Center Forward: Harry Kane – Spurs

Who else but Harry Kane to cap off this combined XI between Arsenal and Spurs? The England captain is continuing to grow in stature as the years go on, and he has made a habit out of producing in North London Derby’s, putting Arsenal to the sword. He scored in both fixtures last season, and will be hoping to put last weekend’s horrific showing against Newcastle United behind him.

This fixture might be a tight one as usual, but if last season is anything to go by, you can expect some goals, heated clashes, and a high intensity 90 minutes overall!
