Palace 0-0 Everton

Debutants: Gbamin and Moise Kean (Everton)

  • Gbamin came on for Gomes after the latter sustained an injury. Sloppy and caught in possession twice only to be bailed out by Mina and Pickford. Attacking prowess was the only plus.
  • The excitement was there but not the impact (mainly due to Schneiderlin’s sending off).

Burnley 3-0 Southampton

Eric Pieters and Jay Rodriguez (Burnley), Che Adams and Obafemi (Southampton)

  • Adams had a mixed debut. Missed a glorious cross from Valery and almost got sent-off for his late challenge. Put in some good-shift though!
  • Obafemi got some minutes coming off from the bench but was caught multiple times in possession. Need to up his game by a notch to nail down a starting birth.
  • Pieters was below-par in the first half but ended up with two assists and a clean sheet on his debut and gradually grew into the game.
