English Premier League: Everton cooking the perfect Scouse
Toffees made a deadline day signing in the form of Alex Iwobi. Everton for long had been in the hunt for Wilfred Zaha, but with that move failing, Everton were quick to switch their attention to Alex Iwobi of Arsenal.
Arsenal received a reported £28 million as compensation. Iwobi has similar traits to Zaha of Palace, but there are some areas where the Nigerian excels.
Alex Iwobi has the ability to quickly link and connect with other players, at a very high level and very high pace. He rides on the left-wing and uses his creativity and dribbling skills to create space.
Lastly, signing Jonas Lossl on a free transfer is a further indication of the clever business that Everton have done this summer. Lossl signing is the final garnish on the dish. This squad has adequate experienced personnel in the form of Delph, Sigurdsson, and Coleman.
There’s also a touch of youthful exuberance in the form of Kean, Richarlison, and Iwobi. The mix of experience and young blood makes the team more intimidating.
Everton have had a fantastic transfer window and have acquired players with high-caliber. However, it all comes down to how Marco Silva wields and grooms his new signings. With so many arrivals, there’s also a risk of disturbing the dressing room equilibrium.
There’s an incredible pool of talent available at Silva’s disposal, Silva needs to make sure that his guidance can aid players to exploit their abilities to the fullest.
There shouldn’t be any waste of talent and opportunity this season. The squad looks complete and ready to fire at all cylinders.
