Top Pick

Teemu Pukki (FWD, 6.5m)

Norwich had an excellent season last year and finished top of the Championship with a massive 94 points. A big part of that was Teemu Pukki’s goal tally of 29! He is a strong player good at holding up the ball, which bodes well as players like that tend to graduate more easily into the Premier League than small, pacy strikers (ie Glenn Murray vs Dwight Gayle).

Differential Pick

Onel Hernandez (MID, 5.5m)

Every year FPL overprice some promoted players at 6.0m or above, which is just too much for a potential misfire like Sessegnon or Knockaert. However, luckily they still leave some players at a more affordable budget option of 5.5m, such as Hernandez. He registered 8 goals and 9 assists last year, even with a severe reduction due to the change in the level he’s likely to provide a decent return for a cheap asset.

Defensive Pick

Timm Klose (DEF, 4.5m)

It doesn’t help much now as he is injured, but given those fixtures, I would argue you’re better off waiting a while anyway! Klose managed to avoid the occasional 5.0m price tag doled out to promoted defenders, despite notching 4 goals last year. Given I think Norwich’s defence will be leakier than a broken colander, so maybe the best you can hope for will be the odd goal!

Steer Clear

Mario Vrancic (MID, 6.5m)

This is more a function of the price than concerns around the actual player. 6.5m is too much to pay for a punt on a promoted midfielder. Strikers usually do alright as they are the focal point of the attack, but it is hard for wingers to make that leap and often they fail (Knockaert, Sessegnon, Traore etc).
