Man United have finally announced the transfer of Harry Maguire from Leicester City
It was a long wait with many back and forth but Harry Maguire has finally made his dream move from Leicester City across the land to Manchester United.
A done deal. Another transfer completed. Man United and Ole Gunnar tie-up business to finish up the restructuring on their backline a few days before the window closes and the Premier League season gets underway.
Since the beginning of the year, Man United was rumoured to be in for the England international, Harry Maguire. It cooled down a bit as the Premier League 2018-19 season wore on.

This was only due to United turning their attention elsewhere. However, the requested funds for unproven Premier League quality was far too high.
This inevitably brought their attention back to Harry, who also wanted the move to go through. For weeks after the window just opened, Leicester City played hardball for one of their biggest assets.
They were unmoved by the first few bids handed in by United and were adamant they were not ready to part ways, as the Foxes themselves are on a new venture with Brendan Rodgers. But this was all to change a week before the window shuts, and now Rodgers and Leicester are in search a of a replacement.
A Fox now a Red Devil
At a high transfer fee of £80 million, Harry Maguire has placed a large target on his back. He will have to play to the value of that amount, week in and week out. The deal is said to keep him at Old Trafford for five years, so he has a long time to make it happen.
Is he worth the £80m? Maguire has an error in him no doubt. However, when playing for his country with a better team around him, he has proven to be a valuable asset. His defending has lots of room for improvement, but his presence in the opposition box for set-pieces is second to none.
It’s a good buy and an upgrade to the current stock at Man United. Yet I still do not believe he is worth the money coughed up. People doubted Virgil van Dijk at £75m. But he then went on to claim the PFA Player of the Year in the Premier League.
Harry would have to emulate this or better it with a trophy in his maiden campaign as a Red Devil to make up for the cash spent on him. All in all, it was a good move that needed to happen for the receiving club.
Leaving Leicester though could be seen as a bit premature.
