Transfer News: Man City set to pay £62m for Atletico’s Midfielder Rodri

Another player is set to snub the red of Manchester for the rival blue after reports Atletico Madrid’s midfielder Rodri is gearing up for a Man City transfer.

The Premier League champions have been quiet during the early stages of the transfer window. There’s been a lot of window shopping going on and no real purchases so far.

Though it appears things will soon change and the Citizens are about to add a quality player to the ranks in Rodri. There is no surprise in this link as the club and Pep Guardiola search for a long-term replacement for key man, Fernandinho.

The demand of Pep’s game and the age of 34-years-old doesn’t gel well in the modern day and we all know, the defensive midfielder’s time at the club or in the first team is limited.

Is he worth the £62m (€70m)?

Yes, he is! He managed to complete a total of 45 appearances in all competitions for Madrid. That’s one major aspect of his game Pep will be looking at, his fitness and ability to be available for selection.

That alone makes his value worth £50m. He also boasts a clean game as a number 6. Only five yellow cards with no sending offs for the whole of last season.

The Brazilian (Fernandinho) has been known for some silly challenges in the past. So the player’s discipline is welcomed at the club. Therefore, makes him worth every penny spent, once the transfer is complete.
