Chelsea and Juventus have struck a deal which will allow Maurizio Sarri to join the Italian club, with Frank Lampard being lined up to replace him.
According to reports, Chelsea and Juventus have struck a £5 million deal which will allow Maurizio Sarri to join the Bianconeri as manager despite spending just 1 season at Stamford Bridge, albeit a relatively successful one. As Sarri departs, Frank Lampard, the Chelsea legend who currently plies his trade as manager of Derby County in the Championship, is being lined up as a replacement with a deal reportedly only days away from confirmation.
While Sarri was criticized throughout his 1 year tenure at Chelsea for his timid style of play, his final month or two produced some quality results, which ultimately secured the Blues an unlikely 3rd place finish, and a triumphant Europa League victory over Arsenal. It seems however, that Sarri will be departing Chelsea right as their fans were warming up to him.
The man who will most likely be replacing him however, won’t need the fans to warm up to him, because they’re already well past that. Frank Lampard spent 13 years at Stamford Bridge, clocking nearly 650 appearances and making a name for himself as one of, if not the greatest player in the history of the club.
Just so we’re clear; I 100% support Frank Lampard while he’s the Chelsea manager but at the same time I 100% think it’s the wrong time for him to be managing the club.

Hope this helps.
While Lampard has impressed with Derby County, his management career is very young, and to make a move to Chelsea right now, especially with the club under a transfer ban, is a risky move that may just end badly.
"“I think it is a very good option for the club…He has done well with Derby, taking the team to the play-off final.” – Didier Drogba on Lampard potentially becoming the new Chelsea manager"
It is a bit disheartening to see Maurizio Sarri depart the Premier League so soon – his old-school style of management was often frustrating, but respectable, especially for those of us that watched football in the 2000’s or even back in the 90’s, as he felt like a manager straight out of those eras.
Chelsea are going into a tough period in their history. They’ve just lost their best player and talisman, and are likely going to be under a transfer ban for an entire year. If and when Frank Lampard comes in as manager, he won’t have time for a honeymoon period whatsoever, as he will need to be at the top of his game as the manager of a side who risks falling into irrelevancy under the current circumstances.
