Samuel Umtiti could be the perfect signing for Manchester United

Manchester United are in desperate need of a center back after last season’s dismal defensive performances, and Barcelona’s out-of-favor Samuel Umtiti could be the perfect man for the job.

Despite a glittering managerial resumé, that includes two Champions League titles, three Premier League trophies, and three La Liga wins, José Mourinho, dissatisfied with the talent in his squad, called Manchester United’s second place finish in 2017/18 “one of his [his] best achievements.”

The comment was made last August, months before Mourinho was fired as United boss after a series of bad results. While Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s arrival sparked a short revival, United finished the year on a dismal run, and ended sixth, right where they were under José.

The lack of quality in the squad was more apparent than ever by the end of the season.
