UCL Final Buildup: The Reds and the Spurs journey to Madrid was no walk in the Park
In all fairness, Liverpool made things difficult for themselves. Yet, if there’s one club who could always mount a serious comeback it’s Liverpool Football Club.
If you feel Barcelona deserved a three-goal advantage heading to Anfield? Then you missed a great away performance by the Reds.
The English side was up against it all. A missing Firmino and a forced substitution for the early injury to Naby Keita left a large dark cloud over their away performance. Liverpool’s luck went from bad to worse.
One, two, three goals scored! Just like that and every Red around the globe dropped their head thinking there will be no trip to Madrid.

The return to Anfield
The return to Anfield was a bitter, long drive back home for the boys. Thoughts of what could have been done better in the game multiplying in their head, changing scenarios, over and over again.
What made matters worse… Klopp had to make plans without Keita, Bobby, and Salah. Barcelona could smell blood in the Liverpool camp and knew they only needed one goal to destroy all the red hope.
But then stepped up a Belgian named Divock and a fullback named Trent. The two would go on to score one of the smartest but also cheekiest goals in Champions League folklore.
They were accompanied by the man with a brace, Georginio Wijnaldum. A resilient defence and a prolific attacking threat saw Liverpool shatter Barca’s pride!
Four goals with no answer back from a side that had just won the esteemed Spanish La Liga title. Till today Messi and his Catalan crew are unable to comprehend what happened that night at Anfield.
It had the whole world talking and gave Spurs the inspiration that anything is possible on Europe’s biggest club stage. Now the two prep for the most prominent football match in their 2018-2019 campaign.
