Liverpool’s start at Anfield epitomised what they were about all season… Never give up! The team from Merseyside reach back-to-back finals in legendary fashion.

The outstanding home form was enough

It was clear Anfield was not a place any team fancied to visit this season. But what the Reds were up against in PSG and Napoli made for one amazing Group C phase.

Liverpool hosted a star-filled Paris side in a loud and well-orchestrated Anfield. The two entertained with a five-goal thriller. A late goal by Roberto Firmino secured three points in a group three points were hard to come by.

Group C

1st. PSG – MP6; W3; D2; L1; GF17; GA9; GD8; 11Points
2nd. Liverpool – MP6; W3; D0; L3; GF9; GA7; GD2; 9Points
3rd. Napoli – MP6; W2; D3; L1; GF7; GA5; GD2; 8Points
4th. Crvena Zvezda – MP6; W1; D1; L4; GF5; GA17; GD-12; 4Points

Each game home was almost a formality for them. The fixtures on the road brought us questionable performances. Klopp’s boys lost every game on the road, including Crvena Zvezda, who were then registered as Red Star Belgrade.

It wasn’t until the final night of the Champions League group stage that Liverpool managed to achieve a spot in the knockout round. Who would have thought this was just the start of great nights at Anfield?
