One manager made no signings and the other has taken an average team to almost world-class status. Mauricio Pochettino and Jurgen Klopp, two fitting managers to entertain in the all-English Champions League final.

For the first time in the history of European football, four English teams take all four slots in the finals of the Champions League and the Europa League, respectively. Yet, this is just the beginning of their stories.

The two men at the helms of their respective clubs entering the irrefutable, daunting challenge made it this far with all odds stacked against them.

The key to their success has been installing self-belief into squads half the monetary value of others in the competition and squads with players’ rated as “average” opposed to the talent-laden outfits around them.

To have made it this far while attempting to take on Pep and his fluent Man City in the Premier League has restored my faith in football. Two men doing things the way football is supposed to be done.

Entertaining, exciting, and some mesmerising moments in the Champions League while managing their sides to perfection almost.
