After the disappointment of last season’s sixth place finish, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Manchester United face a summer of big decisions when it comes to the current first-team squad.

It promises to be a summer of comings and goings at Old Trafford, as the Norwegian boss looks to take the first step towards bringing Manchester United out of the wilderness. It’s time to take a look at every first-team squad player on the books, and decide for ourselves whether Solskjaer should keep them or let them go.

Goalkeepers

David de Gea

Undoubtedly one of the best goalkeepers in the world, prior to his shocking collapse during the second half of the season. He is about to enter the final year of his contract, and will probably only stay for a hefty wage packet. Despite his recent form, he is worth hanging onto, and has been United’s best player of the post-Ferguson era. Solskjaer needs to do everything possible to keep him, as high-quality replacements at the position are not widely available.

Verdict: Keep (if you can)

Sergio Romero

Arguably the best backup goalie in the Premier League, the Argentine international is under contract for two more seasons and seems content with his role.

Verdict: Keep

Lee Grant

An odd signing, the ageing goalkeeper is unlikely to see much game time regardless.

Verdict: If an offer comes for him, sell

Joel Pereira

Still only twenty-two, it is worth extending his contract, and possibly loaning him out if Grant stays.

Verdict: Keep, perhaps loan
