Ajax’s Hakim Ziyech could be Manchester United’s right-wing solution
Now, he has his chance to make some moves in the transfer window by bringing in players that he knows will fit his style and getting rid of the deadwood at the club.
United legend Gary Neville outlined what the next year will look like for Solskjaer:
"So, if you think about that in terms of the job over the next two or three months, you’ve got probably 12 live situations: four players we need to sign on contracts, four players we need get into the club and four players we need to get out for the most money possible."
Players like Phil Jones, Matteo Darmian, Alexis Sanchez, and Marcos Rojo have shown time after time that they don’t possess the necessary quality to play in a United team with ambitions to get back to the top.
Sanchez looks set to move on from Old Trafford after a nightmarish 18 months at the club since his move from the Emirates, and his sale will be welcomed by both parties. His signing didn’t make much sense in the first place given the quality United already had down the left-wing at the time in Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford.
In fact, it was on the opposite side where they needed more help as Jesse Lingard and Juan Mata, two players who are more comfortable operating as no. 10’s, were forced to play out on the right. This summer, with Mata’s contract running out as well, Solskjaer will have to look to find a more natural signing at that role.
