After 11 years, over 350 matches, and 2 FA Cup winning goals, Aaron Ramsey’s historic Arsenal career is officially over after his hamstring injury.
It’s been a long and relatively successful road in North London for the Welshman Aaron Ramsey, who confirmed in February that he would be joining Italian giants Juventus on a free transfer following the end of his Arsenal contract. The man who has been touted as a club legend by many Gooners has been in fine form since the turn of the year, and looked set to play a massive part in Arsenal’s race to qualify for the Champions League. This has unfortunately collapsed, as Ramsey picked up a hamstring injury in Arsenal’s 1-0 win over Napoli in the Europa League quarter-final 2nd leg and has been confirmed to miss the rest of the season.
Many have taken to social media to show Ramsey some support and give him thanks for his fantastic reign with Arsenal. However, this injury isn’t just an early farewell – it could genuinely cost Arsenal a Champions League spot next year. Ramsey has been such a crucial cog in their team in recent months and it’s no surprise that the teams performances have come crashing down ever since his injury.
While Ramsey is one of the best goalscoring midfielders in the world, he has struggled with injuries throughout his career, especially untimely ones.
However, Juventus are getting themselves one of world football’s most underrated players this summer, and one with a knack for producing in high-intensity, high-stakes fixtures, which is certainly something Juventus might need if they are to win the Champions League trophy that continues to evade them.
All in all, Aaron Ramsey’s Arsenal career has been joyful and filled with ups and downs. From his leg break against Stoke as a teenagers all the way to his FA Cup winning goals, he has truly blossomed under the lights at the Emirates Stadium, and will go down in Gunners folklore as the man who brought some light to the club in the darkest of times.
